1. Discovery
Our discovery phase starts with a meeting to fully understand who you are and what you do. We’ll talk about everything, from your vision and values, to your goals, ambitions, and audience.
It’s here that we discover the full scope of the project, including the purpose of the website and who it’s for. We’ll discuss your tone of voice, messaging, brand guidelines – we want to know what makes you, you.
We’ll also find out if any time-consuming internal processes can be automated or integrated into the website that might never have been considered before. After all, your new website should make your life easier as well as your audience’s.
2. Research
Equipped with the information we need, we do a deep dive into you and your industry.
We research your sector inside and out, and see how you compare to your competitors. We’ll have a nose at your current website to see how it’s performing, assess what it’s doing well and where it’s falling short.
This will inform everything we do next, revealing opportunities for improvement, industry-specific trends we should be considering, and highlighting the imagery, tone of voice, and brand messaging that will make your new website sing.
3. Audience
The most important step in designing a fantastic website. If you don’t know who your audience is, it’s incredibly difficult to create something that will attract and convert them.
We get to know who your audience are: their goals, the pain points that prevent them from reaching their goals, and what their buyer journey looks like.
Talking to and observing your audience gives us the perfect foundation to design a website that will enhance their user experience, simplify their user journey, and ultimately make your business more memorable and attractive. Your audience will also play a crucial part in the design process later on.
4. Structure
Page structure plays a crucial role in your website’s success – and it’s often something that’s overlooked.
If your pages are difficult to find and the navigation between them is clunky, your users will be left frustrated, confused, and will likely leave your website to look elsewhere.
By learning how your audience interact with your current website, we can iron out any wrinkles when we create the new one. We’ll map out your entire website architecture and structure it in a way that’s intuitive to your audience. Every page will have its place and be easy to find.
5. Design
Now for the fun part. We know the goals of your business, we know the purpose of your website, and we know who we’re designing it for and how they’ll interact with it.
It’s time to start breathing some life into your new website.
We design the entire website and create high-fidelity prototypes for you to play around with and test all necessary user journeys. We’ll also run usability tests with your audience to make sure they understand the new website, can navigate it with ease, and ultimately get to their end goal with no frustrations. This is called the validation stage. Nothing goes to development until you’re 100% happy with it and your audience have validated the designs.
6. Development
With everything signed off and approved, we begin to build your website.
This is the most time-consuming part of the project – and there’s a very good reason for this.
We build every page from scratch to match the designs exactly. We integrate the website with your very own WordPress CMS, and any third party systems you need to make your day-to-day working life easier. Once every page is built, we’ll add all the content to your website and move on to the final testing stage.
7. Testing
Your newly built website will be tested to within an inch of its life, ensuring everything is working as it should and looks exactly like the approved visuals.
We’ll double check all functionality to make sure there are no annoying little glitches, and put the CMS and any other integrations through the runner to make sure they’re working correctly.
We’ll test and tweak your website until it runs perfectly on all modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and make sure it looks as it should on all screen sizes (desktop, laptop, tablet, smart phone). We’ll then pass it back over to you for a final internal test and once you’re happy, we get ready to press the big green button.
8. Launch
Ah, if only it was as simple as pressing a big green button. We now need to move the entire website and content from our testing servers over to your chosen hosting provider’s servers.
If you opt to host with us – great! We’ll take care of all this for you. If you want to host with someone else, no problem. We’ll package up the website and send it your hosting providers, ready for them to configure their own servers to go live. We’ll add any existing or new tracking codes to the website, such as GA4 and Google Tag Manager. We’ll make sure any old or amended URLs have been redirected, so your customers won’t be sent to any 404 pages.
Once your new website is live, we’ll provide video tutorials on all aspects of the CMS, so you’re able to make changes whenever needed. All that’s left to do is sit back, relax, and wait for everyone to tell you how awesome your new website is.
